Frequently asked questions

As a courtesy to our wax specialists, our policy is that you come to each wax appointment freshly showered. A vast majority of our clients are very considerate in this area.  We greatly appreciate when you come to your wax appointment with freshly cleaned feet, vagina, anal area, and underarms.
Thank you!

Waxing Questions:

How long should my hair length be to obtain a thorough Bikini, or Brazilian wax?

Hair needs to be at least 1/4″ in length (about the length of long grain rice) for the wax to adhere to the hair. If you have shaved, it takes about 4 weeks of hair regrowth for the wax to pick up the hair. Tweezing the short hairs is very time consuming and more painful than waxing. There is only so much we can do when your hair is too short.

What if I am on my period on the day of my scheduled wax appointment?

Our policy is the that you must come freshly showered with a clean tampon. If you do not wear tampons, make an appointment for another day.

What is the difference between a Bikini and a Brazilian wax?

Bikini Wax – Removal of hair on the sides and top of the bikini line. Bikini line is defined as any hair that extends outside of a pair of regular bikini bottoms. Does not include the removal of hair on the inner thighs, labia, or anal area.

Bikini plus – The same as the Extended Bikini with the addition of removing hair in the anal area between the buttocks. We can extend the removal of hair in the anal area to include the cheeks for an additional charge ranging from $10-$20.

Brazilian Wax – Complete hair removal of the entire bikini area, labia, and anal area between the buttocks. We can leave a landing strip, or upside down triangle of hair above the pubic bone upon request. This service can be somewhat customized.

Facials Questions:

Do I need to do anything to prepare for my facial?

– If possible, please arrive with no make up as the removal eats up your treatment time. Otherwise, no problem, I will remove it for you.
– Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your appointment time so that we can start your facial on time.
– Plan to silence your cell phone and put that device away! You are coming in to not only treat your skin but to treat and relax your mind. If you are clutching your cell phone for dear life the entire facial, then you are depriving yourself of some very needed you time.

Will I break out after my facial?

Our goal, of course, is to minimize any post facial breakout as much as possible. That said, if you have a lot of extractions, it is quite possible that you will experience some breakout within 48 hours of your facial. The best thing to do is book your facial about 7 days before any special event so that your skin will have had time to recover and look its best.

What do I need to do after my facial?

– No tanning for about 24 to 48 hours after.
– No exfoliation or masks at home for about 48 hours after.
– Do not go to the gym or workout immediately after a facial. It’s best to wait 24 hours.
– Do not apply any Retinols, Retin-A, topical medications to the face for 24 hours.

How often should you get a facial?

Every 4 to 6 weeks is ideal for most. If you are doing a series of Microdermabrasion or LED, you will want to come in every 2 weeks for Microdermabrasion and the LED 2 times a week for 4 weeks maximum results.

I don't know which facial I need...how do I choose?

No worries. Your best bet is to book the Signature Facial. Then, once you come in, we can discuss what will be best for you and your skin.

What is microcurrent and does it hurt?

Microcurrent is a gentle electrical stimulation resulting in temporary lifting and tightening of the skin. Results from 1 treatment will last anywhere from 24 – 72 hours. It is a very comfortable experience. You may feel a slight prickly or tingly sensation and a bit of warmth.

What should gentlemen do before their facial?

Please do not shave the day of your appointment. Shaving can cause skin sensitivity and irritation. If you have a beard longer than a quarter of an inch no product will be applied in that area. Only the upper face and eye area will be treated.

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical resurfacing technique performed in a series of about 6-10 treatments. At Glo Bar, we offer crystal or diamond tip microdermabrasion. Treatment exfoliates the outermost layers of the skin (the stratum corneum) and vacuums them away, leaving skin feeling softer and smoother, looking younger and more vibrant. Microdermabrasion is non-invasive and recovery time is as little as two days.
